As mentioned earlier, Ben Affleck played the role of Batman for the first time in 2016, when he starred in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This movie had quite a lot of star power and was one of the most anticipated movies at that time.
It would go on to gross more than $873 million worldwide and also become one of the highest-grossing superhero movies to date. The movie had a lot of interest and critics were pretty mixed with it as well. But, at the end of the day, it was a solid movie that millions of people enjoyed.
Justice League (2017)
The next major appearance of Ben Affleck as batman was in the Justice League movie which was released a year later. This was, to be quite honest, a pretty disappointing move.
The movie didnโt have the same feel as Batman v Superman and it seems like they were trying to bring back that magic with this move. Unfortunately, it failed to do so and did not have the same impact as the other Batman movies.
The characterization of batman in the movie turned out to be quite bland and lacked many of his characteristics from the other movies as well such as his skills and intellect.
People were not impressed with the way batman was portrayed in the movie and many even commented that the casting of Affleck was completely wrong for the role. Nonetheless, there were a few outstanding moments including the decent action sequences and the overall quality of the film.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023)
After that, Affleck would return as batman in the upcoming Aquaman movie. This is based on an Aquaman comic book which is said to be set in Atlantis.
Affleckโs character, Arthur Curry, is a normal guy who accidentally winds up on a ship in the middle of a war between various factions in Atlantis and finds himself thrown into the battle alongside a young lady with unusual powers.
The movie will be directed by James Wan and will also star Jason Momoa as Aquaman. The film is set to release in March of 2023.
It is very exciting for people to see Affleck back as batman, even if it is in a major film after nearly a decade away from the role. Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom will be an interesting film because it shows how well Affleck has done as batman.
Suicide Squad (2016)
The third time that Affleck played batman was in the 2016 superhero movie Suicide Squad. This movie was a chance for the DC Extended Universe to live up to its full potential and it did just that. The story of this movie was pretty good with some fantastic character development and a lot of action sequences.
This movie had a lot of star power and a great cast of characters. The movie was set in the DC Extended Universe and focused on a group of supervillains who were placed into an impossible situation by the government. Ben Affleck briefly appeared as batman in this movie, but it was the Suicide Squad, who made up the majority of the movie.
The Flash (2023)
The upcoming standalone The Flash movie will be released in the year 2023, after the Aquaman movie. It will focus on a young Barry Allen. This is a character from the DC comic books and was also played by John Wesley Shipp in a few episodes of the 90โs TV series, The Flash.
The current circumstances that Ben Affleck has played batman in all three of these movies have been pretty successful, so far and it seems like he will make it a point to play the role of Batman in this movie as well.
